The ‘Mike’ Gets Versatile!

Well it’s happened again: a fellow blogger has nominated The ‘Mike’ for an award! This time it’s the Versatile Blogger Award (VBA), and the nod comes from my friend at Journey With God. Thanks so much!

The VBA, according to its WordPress page, recognizes quality writing, unique content, and “the level of love displayed in the words.” Gee! That’s a high mark I hope I meet. At least one person thinks so!

Requirements are not unlike other awards: display the award; thank and link back to the nominator; nominate (15) other blogs; and offer seven interesting facts about oneself.

And the Nominees Are…

So, let me tell you what blogs I think meet the criteria. In no order…

Although these writers don’t have to accept the award, it’s my pleasure to introduce them to you. I hope you’ll enjoy these blogs as much as I do.

Now About Me

Seven interesting things…hmm. I’ll make it quick.

  1. I am very laid back.
  2. I think 80’s music is the best music ever.
  3. I am good at organizing and actually enjoy cleaning.
  4. I love any baked good—and I love baking them!
  5. I spend 10-times more time revising my blog posts than I do writing them.
  6. I think I would’ve made a great lawyer or musician in another life.
  7. I was probably closer to killing myself than I realized my first and only time skiing, but it was a blast!

      • I just remember the “big hair’ rock. LOL! I’m sure there were a few good songs. Of course, I’m a little older than you and a throw-back from the late 60’s, early 70’s.

As far as worship music goes, I think the best is being written right now. 🙂

        • I agree though: I think the best music is 60’s to 80’s. I listen to those the most. It’s all downhill after the 80’s…my opinion. I was hoping you’d say more since you’re the musician! I really wished I played something!

        • Actually, I like some music and genres from all decades. I don’t have a sentimental bone in my body when it comes to music. That’s the musician side of me, I suppose. It just has to have some soul to it. So much popular music has no soul.

I could probably say more about Christian music. It can’t be cliché or cheap. It has to say something meaningful about our relationship with God. Frankly, I don’t generally listen to Christian radio because so much of the music is annoying to me…people singing who don’t seem to know who they are in Christ, full of failure and doubt instead of faith. Some of it’s good though.

          That’s my commentary for now… 🙂

        • Not sure how I missed your last comment…sorry. That’s really interesting–your ‘musician’s comment’ about no sentimentality; but I get it. You like it all, as long as it moves you in some way. One of my biggest sorrows is that my mom didn’t let me play band in 6th grade…the sax. I think my life would be very different today had I done so; then maybe it’s a good thing.

I also get your second comment…kinda like me not watching Christian TV or listening to select Christian music. So I get it. I appreciate your commentary.

    • Haha! Thanks, sir. I’m glad to know that you know ‘what’s up’! I just had an extended trip over the last two days and it was 80’s music coming and going! Who do you like?

What do you think?
