Why is “It’s 20XX!” supposed to mean that the progression of time renders traditional values obsolete?
A 'Mike' for Christ 
Because every generation tends to think they are better than the previous generation. Especially when, with the benefit of hindsight, they look at the mess created by their predecessors and think they could have done better. Naturally they will reject values passed down from previous generations.
That’s an interesting concept to meditate on.

Maybe that we are evolving and becoming smarter and wiser? Which I believe personally is incorrect.
Yeah, they don’t see that it’s a little more serious than that. We are breaking down morally and jeopardizing our freedoms, not securing them.
