Psalm 119:140 declares, “Your promises have been thoroughly tested; that is why I love them so much” (NLT). The understanding is that the words of God have endured rigorous trial and have performed exactly as they promised.
Consumer Reports magazine has gained a strong following over the years for its independent testing of just about everything we use. If you’re like me, those red, white, and black dotted and halved circles excite you; and you can easily lose an hour of your day engrossed in any of those informative guides.
What Consumer Reports does is important because people’s money and safety and quality of life are important.
Great and Precious Promises
Our lives are important in other ways, too. Life in the world isn’t always easy. Things happen. It’s not all the Devil’s fault either. Sometimes it’s just our bodies and emotions and faith getting caught in the crossfire—hopefully not the crosshairs—of other happenings.
But God gives us his promises: “I am with you always.” “Call to me and I will answer you.” “I will strengthen you and help you.” “I will restore health unto you and heal your wounds.”
Hopefully, you have some consolation in these words because you’ve seen them realized in others’ lives. I have. I spend much time now reminiscing about the saintly men and women from my yesteryear, most of whom are now in Heaven, whose testimonies I could recall word-for-word as a kid. But those testimonies are spiritual gold to me now.

He is so faithful, Mark.
The words and promises of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times over. (Psalm 12:6 AMP)
I’ve seen His faithfulness in others. I’ve seen His faithfulness in my life. I’m seeing it in yours.
Great verse. That’s a kind thing to say, Chris. You don’t know what strength your own testimony lends me. God bless you.
